Match Report vs BOTS
26 July 2022 @ Pontcanna (Skipper Richies, report Dan)
The highlight from this match was the delivery and distribution
of the new Cazh sponsored kit (and a fight in the Gaelic footy
match on the neighbouring pitch).
The Cazh revelled once again in the size choices of other
players – the best line delivered – it fits very
well – just like a latex glove!! However, everyone seemed
very pleased with both kit and size choices.
The team changed somewhat over course of the preceding days
and hours before the match, but 11 almost fit (read –
not injured) Cazh made the start time. Richie won the toss
and decided to bat first. Rhys and Alex opened up and things
started well for the pair as the BOTs opening bowler pulled
his calf second ball in and gifted a number of wides and no
balls to get us off the mark. The pair then battled well against
the other openers and the replacement opener and they put
on a partnership of 49 before Rhys (11) smoked one at the
cover fielder who took a cracking catch in front of his face.
Alex (28) having had a reprieve with the keeper dropping
an absolute sitter, but later took a blinder one handed catch
the next over. Jesus and Jack next pair in and Will was facing
a very good off spinner who bowled it as fast if not faster
than many of our ‘fast’ bowlers and moved it away
each delivery – even Will was caught out a few times
by the speed, bounce and turn. However, Will did get hold
of a few and elegantly put to the boundary. Jack (1) didn’t
fare as well and was caught at the other end.
There was then a procession of a few mini partnerships all
with Will , who carried his bat to the end. The Cazh finishing
on 113-6 off 20
Rhys 11ct
Alex 28ct
Will MW – 44no
Jack 1ct
Rich 1ro
Jim 3ct
Dan 3b
Naren 5no
Goffy, Dave W, DT – DNB
The second inngings started with Dan bowling a good line
and length, but the opener creaming it through mid off for
2 fours. Adjusting his length, Dan’s remaining 3 overs
were more frugal and took the first wicket in his 3rd over
– caught by Will at mid-on.
Goffy’s 4 over spell was wicketless but there were
some very good deliveries, the batsmen though were more than
competent, the no3 was the same fast spinner who looked to
club most balls.
DT and Dave White bowled 3 overs a piece, both batsmen taking
no prisoners and helped by a depleting number of ‘fit’
casuals – Goffy pulling his groin and Richie tweaking
his calf.
The opener retired, and Flat White got the number 4 with
the scores tied – caught well by Naren in the deep.
BOTS 114-2 off 14overs
Goffy – 4-0-31-0
Dan 4-1-22-1
DT 3-0-30-0
Dave W 3-0-31-1
Catches WMW and Naren
It was then off to the pub for a couple of pints and a lot
of buffet (in the end)
