Match Report vs Glamorgan
Centurions -18 August 2016 @ Central Park, Llantwit Fadre
(Skipper Kim, report Dan)
The Cazh turned up in dribs and drabs having to overcome
the traffic at rush hour, Steveo even later that the rest
and turned up 20mins after the delayed start and reduced over
to 18 a piece. Skipper Kim lost the toss and we were fielding.
Dan and Dave opened the bowling. Dan bowled well, and was
refused a lbw shout which looked pretty plumb, but Dave got
a wicket first ball of his 3 over spell – bowling the
opener. He then took another wicket this time caught by Rob
at mid-on. Centurions 20-2 off 6 overs. Rob and Richie took
over the bowling and Rob got the wicket of the other opener
caught by Steveo at short cover. Rob took another wicket –
bowled in his second over. Richie didn’t fare quite
as well, he bowled straight, but the pace and pitch helped
the batsmen to go after the medium pace. 82-5 off 12 overs.
Luke and Britpop bowled the last 6 overs, Luke got a wicket
off the last ball – bowled, but the batsmen really accelerated
towards the end of their innings, the light already fading
and there was still the Cazh innings to go – Centurions
finishing on 138-6 off 18overs. Tesh managed a fantastic “stop
it or wear it” definite 4 – I don’t think
he saw it until it was in his face!
Dan 3 overs – 0 maidens – 16 runs – 0
wickets
Dave – 3-0-11-2
Rob – 3-0-19-3
Richie – 3-0-34-0
Luke – 3-0-31-1
Britpop – 3-0-24-0
The Cazh innings was opened by Kim and Tesh, the pair started
slowly against some good bowling and enthusiastic verbals
from bowler and close fielders. Tesh was first to fall (6),
bowled in the 4th over. Jesus joined Kim, and continued to
build an innings. Jesus seemed to be a bit below par and took
a while to unleash, however when he did is innings was cut
short to a lbw decision which looked a bit high, but was probably
encouraged due to the multiple appeals. The sledging continued
when Steveo entered the fray – labelled the “night
watchman” by the main sledger, Steveo didn’t take
too kindly to it but got it out of his system clubbing the
first ball to the boundary and chipped back. The desired effect
was granted in the next over Steveo out bowled. Goff decided
to relive his innings of a few seasons ago vs Sudbrook and
charged the bowler 2nd ball, missed it and was stumped (0).
Kim by this stage was forced to retire on 31. The score now
on 71 off 10 and the light was almost none existent. Britpop
and Luke tried to up the pace but Luke was given out to another
lbw (3), and Britpop was bowled first ball of the next over
(17). 79-6 off 11.
Dan in next and started with a 6, he and Richie put on a
bit of a partnership taking the Cazh past the century. Unfortunately
was given out lbw (17) for one that hit him just below the
box and bruise to show it. It was likely that the umpire couldn’t
see the other end of the wicket – it was so dark. Richie
and Rob finished out the remaining 2 overs finishing 13 runs
short – 125-7. It was then changed and off for a pint
in the local before making our way back to Cardiff. A good
effort against the conditions and oppo enthusiasm, lovely
pitch and ground, shame it started as late as it did.
Kim – 31 not out (retired)
Tesh – 6 bowled
Jesus - 12 lbw
Steveo – 5 bowled
Goff – 0 stumped
Britpop – 17 bowled
Luke – 3 lbw
Dan – 17 lbw
Richie – 18 not out
Rob – 5 not out
