Match Report vs Cavaliers 22 June 2009 @ Wenvoe (Skipper and Report Muff)

On a pleasant evening the casuals lost the toss and were put in on a hard and as it turned out bouncy track.

Kim and Pablo opened the innings and were soon into there stride against an accurate attack. Then, after 3 overs Kim smacked the brand new ball into Penelope keith's garden and we had to resort to using an old one (this wouldn't have been so bad but me and Pabs had to do a detour via his house to pick the new balls up!)

A new bowler in the 6th over brought the first wicket, an unimpressed Paul caught behind for an excellent 16. It wasn’t the decision that unimpressed him (he walked)
but Mr Banister calling for the bowlers name as he was in mid delivery!

This brought Iain to the crease but his defence wasn’t as good as it looked and got bowled 1st ball. With Kim going well Pikey joined the fray and to be fair struggled a bit. The oppo gave Kim the one then tied up Jamie with some good shortish bowling finally getting him bowled for 5. Smitty up next and the run rate went into orbit along with the ball, Kim losing another in the stream as he eased passed 50. Then an astonishing moment, Penelope threw the ball back!!!!! So the new ball was reintroduced and went even quicker to the boundry over a lightening out field.

In the 17th over Kim finally got beaten caught and bowled for a languid 87.
Scott came in and he and Smitty saw us through to the end running hard to get us to 154 for4 off the 20. Superb effort with the batt with Kim, Paul, Smitty and Scott all scoring at more than a run a ball. Scott not-out 10 and Smitts not-out 21 Rog, doc, shag, muff and porno dnb.

Buoyed by their display the casuals were sharp in the field with some good stops off a very good opening spell from Dan, fast and lifting none of the batsmen looked comfy and Dan got his reward with a sharp caught and bowled and another caught behind by Smitts.

Rog from the other end bowled his 4 for no reward and but for 1 over kept it tight.
Matt and Muff up with the Doc bowling well and deserving more than the 1 he got caught by Muff, who bowled crap and was withdrawn for the Pabster. Paul got the break through first ball getting the dangerous Steadmen out caught by the juggling Scott.

By this time the run rate had got out of reach for the Cavaliers and despite some good running were kept pegged back by Paul with another wicket bowled and another good run-out (direct hit) from Dan. Muff managed to save the game in the last over by not letting them get the 35 runs they needed!

Great result and and a much needed win.

Dan 4-0-21-2
Jamie 4-0-19-0
Matt 4-0-21-1
Muff 4-0-32-0
Paul 4-0-29-2

Well done to Kim on an impressive knock and thanks to all for a good team effort.
Next.
