Match report vs. Legal
and General 10th May 06, Wenvoe (Skipper on the Day
- ???, match report by A Furnham)
The scorebook seemed to be missing earlier hence no proper
report but basically this happened. Gough and Jamie opened
with Jamie out to his first ball and second of the innings
when he edged one and was given out LBW. He was not a happy
camper and called Kim a ******* **** **** ***** **** etc etc
when he came off. This was probably the most notable thing
of the game.
Gough hit 30 till he was stumped off their wicky and James
in similar fashion after a good knock. Smitts also played
well till caught at short extra and Paul played some great
shots till he ran himself out. Kim also played well till being
caught in the deep. Andy Hood finished on 9 not out and managed
to run out the skipper who didn't face a ball. In the end
I think we scored 111 though I could be wrong.
We wondered last year what their batting was like after number
4 and we found out
though they didn't have their superstar
and the other guy with the fantastic eye
They had two
good bats. The one guy could hit it hard, very hard and straight
and the keeper who was there at the end protecting his average
Other than that they struggled against for our bowling (and
pitch). Paul and Tesh opened and I think L+G were on about
39 after 10 with at least two down. It was all over that early
as L+G didn't manage to increase the run rate and the last
10 overs were not that exciting to be honest.
Smitts took a great catch and almost another which would
have been top draw. James was our best fielder and all the
bowlers took wickets. Paul, Tesh , Andy , Matt and Kim who
Jamie must have forgiven as he took a catch for him.
We wondered if the game would finish as the thunder started
when we were still batting but we were lucky and it only started
raining after we had finished. Not sure how many they got
but I would guess 60 for 8 wickets? That's a guess but it
must be close. Anyway the Casz won again and much like last
Wednesday in a most comfortable way.
