Oz Bar Downed In League Opener
as Shagger Notches 200 (wickets not beavers!)
Llanrumney beckoned due to an unprepared soggy Wenvoe being
unavailable for our first league game of the season.
Losing the toss I knew we were on to a winner following two
victorious toss winning defeats.
After being put into field Winky (in his first game of the
season) opened with Shagger, the latter taking his 200th wicket
(bowled) for the Casz in his second over. Both bowlers bowled
tight spells with 4-0-11-0 and 4-0-9-1 respectively.
First change saw Fitzy and Paul take two overs each in miserly
outings of 2-0-6-0 and 2-0-4-0.
Next up gave Furnham Jnr and Muff a crack of the whip with
Andy taking a wicket (caught [Paul]) in his first over finishing
with figures of 4-0-14-1 and Muff returning 2-0-11-0.
Paul took up his last two overs taking wickets in each (bowled
& caught [Andy H]) in a spell of 2-0-10-2.
In between Paul’s two wickets Shagger fielded excellently
in the deep to return (accurately!) to the keeper (The Goad)
for a run out.
69 for 5 off 20 overs
B 3 (The Goad)
In order to gain bonus points for batting we needed to knock
off the required runs as quickly as possible.
Talking Horse and Easy set off at a great pace and an opening
partnership of 26 was halted when The Horse was caught for
13 – 26 for 1
Steve O’ stepped up and revelled in the No. 3 spot
adding a further 31 with Easy before, with the end in sight,
Easy gave a catch and departed for 12 – 57 for 2
The Goad (5 not out) entered the arena and chipped in to
knock off the reaming runs with Steve O’ reaching the
target off 12.3 overs. Steve O’ smashing an entertaining
27 not out.
72 for 2 off 12.3 overs

An excellent all round team display including some good fielding
allowed us to restrict the opposition to a low(ish) total
and a strong batting effort by the top order gave us a good
start to the league season.
