Name: MARTIN SHINE
Weight: Potentially the lightest casual…
Nickname: Shineo, Shiney, Moonshine… Rob and Will once spent a whole innings in the field coming up with new nicknames, they landed on "BANG" (Cillit Bang Shine), but we decided that it would be too unrepresentative of my batting.
Batsman? Bowler? Keeper? None of the above? Something else : Fielding all-rounder, in that I can field and am equally bad at batting and bowling
Batting style? Defensive, can stay in but will immediately get out once trying to score runs
General cricketing style? Good at running around
Previous Teams played for? Hurst CC, Reading School, Old Suttonians, Oslo Aliens
How long have you been (a) casual? Since 2018
Number of games played for the Casuals? Somewhere between 10-20
What you bring to the Casuals team? Bringing the average age and weight down, not a lot else
Who is your Doppleganger? At one point I looked like Alistair Cook, sadly that didn't translate into my batting
Hobbies
Favourite food? Pie
Favourite music? Indie rock/folk
Favourite film?

Lord of the Rings

Other hobbies? Fantasy football, board games and just generally being a bit of a nerd
What was your last DVD / CD purchase? Who buys these anymore?
What 3 people would you most like to invite to a dinner party?: Malcom Gladwell, Frank Turner and Jurgen Klopp
Ideal Woman? One that lets me go play cricket on a Sunday
Age you started playing the glorious game? Eleven
Best performance?

Slim pickings… I once scored a gritty 20 as we got bowled out for 66 at Barry Island in 2018

Favourite game played?

Had a bit-part role in the 2019 cup final victory

Favourite venue played …ever? I once went to play away at Eton with school, we got smashed but it was seriously posh (great tea)
Cricketer you most admire and why? Paul Collingwood, it felt like he was a fielding all-rounder so he's probably my role model for one day doing something useful
Casual cricketer you most admire and why?

Has to be Foxy, if I'm still playing at his age I'll be happy!

Funniest moment on the Casuals field?

Away at Wick in 2018, Shakes was on for a 5for with the opposition 9 down. DT drops a catch at slip off Shakes, but then proceeds to run the batsman out denying Shakes his first ever 5for and incurring a hail of curses from the bowling end.

Favourite tour moment?

No tours yet

Favourite Tea had as a casual? (Home or Away)

Seem to remember a good spread at Malpas

I like playing for the casuals because………. It's a club that let me bat or bowl no matter how badly I do
I hate playing for the casuals because………… It's a club that let me bat or bowl no matter how badly I do
If I didn’t play so much cricket I’d be………. Much worse at dealing with failure in the rest of my life

Did you know…. When younger I was once an England football mascot. Was between Owen and Beckham and was landed disappoinitngly with Alan Smith.
