Foxy's Memorial Test Match
15th June 2025
A few weeks after turning 86, Foxy was to hang up his whites
and retire from playing for the Cazh, the team in which he
was instrumental in setting up in 1993, and was in the original
XI for their first match. The Testimonial match was to be
a 'test' match in style (if not in quality) - 2 innings each
- the teams Cazh (Foxes) vs Cazh (Hounds). Many past Cazh
(that Dan had contact details for) were invited and many were
able to make it (16) - including Chris Durnall and Chris Ryde
who were also in the original 11. A large tea was on offer
(to coax people along, plus an array scorebooks for the past
and present to paw through and dribble. Post match, Shakey
provided a run down of Foxy stats - similar to 'This is Your
Life'
Foxy and Dan skippered the Foxes and Jim, Steveo and Cheese
(current club captain and vices) skippered the Hounds. 'Equal'
sides were selected...and each side won an innings, though
the Hounds came through victors in the end (it was later decided
that stats wouldn't count... after much rumblings)
A fab day, weather, cricket, teas and company. It was great
to catch up with so many of the team (once a Cazh , always
a Cazh)
