Spring 2008 Indoor League winners
and runners up for the 'Casualties' and 'No Stars'
After the double victory for both teams in the Winter League,
the Casualties and the No Stars tried to defend their titles.
The points scoring system was changed to make the league tighter,
and tighter it became.
Both teams got off to winning ways for the first two games,
until the Casualties lost their first match against Cardiff
Northern, and the No Stars losing yet again against Pak Panthers.
The Casualties picked themselves up and went on to win their
remaining fixtures, including a last minute additional three
games - not sure if this was to allow the other teams to catch
up or just to play more cricket. Either way, the Casualties
never really looked in trouble and retook the title by about
20 points in the end.
The No Stars also resumed their winning ways, until they
came up against the Asian Allstars with their super quick
bowlers and bit hitting batsmen. The game looked to be lost
for the No Stars half way through the AA innings, but excellent
bowling, fielding and nervous batting geared it up for an
exciting finish, 5 required off the last over, and then 2
off the final ball. Unfortunately a fumble in the field gave
the AA the 2 runs and victory. The must win game vs Cardiff
Gymkhana went horribly wrong with the CG scoring highly and
the No Stars reduced to 4-9 off 3.5 overs. The remaining game
was to not lose the final wickets (and give away valuable
bonus points) - and with TMS styley the No Stars succeeded.
The final game against the Cavaliers gave one opportunity
to take the title, it meant batting first, getting 150 and
then bowling the Cav's out. Unfortunately, the Cav's spoilt
the party by winning the toss and batting first. The No Stars
comfortably won, and took second place in the league (the
top 3 teams separated by just 4 points).
