7th October 2006 - Golf Day
@ The Parc
After several years of 'arranging' the Golf day was finally
organised (well done DB). It was held at the Parc golf club,
Coed Kernew in-between Cardiff and Newport. The 'golfers'
ranged from pretty good to bloody awful, in fact one of the
'golfers' claimed to have never before played...we didn't
tell the club that of course...and he just happened to be
the oldest Casual...to conquer this we hired buggies. However,
Foxy struggled to grasp the process and after Shagger had
fixed Foxy's golf bag to the cart at the first tee, upon driving
off Shag realised that after the Fox had teed off, Foxy could
be seen wandering the fifty odd yards in the general direction
of his ball with bag over shoulder...He was made to walk from
then on!
It probably wasn't a bad thing as after the 14th the buggy
all but conked out with Shag forced to push start it at various
intervals and the Richie/Shag pairing having to constantly
keeping the buggy moving at all times...this involved 'great
skill' in swapping drivers and jumping out whilst still on
the move...!!
Both fourballs got progressively better - playing better
ball rules. In the two matches Shag/Richie finished all-square
with the Sage/Foxy partnership, and Winkie/Smitts beating
DB/Jonny F.
A very good day was had by all, and even the weather was
superb. Fortunately we didn't interfere too much with the
Club Championship which was held the same day - much to our
astonishment on arrival!!
