Match Report vs South
Glam 05 July 2010@ St Fagans (Skipper and report Dan)
With both team not complete at 6, kick off was a casual affair.
Captain Dan won the toss for the second day in a row!! And
again decided to bat first hoping to post a decent score and
get the wickets in the second innings….
Gareth and Easy opened up, with Captain Dan telling Gazza
that the ball would be consistent in bounce due to playing
on the main pitch…after hitting a good backfoot drive,
he was bowled second ball trying to do the same to one which
stayed low (2). This brought in Kim who was in fine form.
He started with a 3. The next wicket to fall was that of Easy
in the 4th over, after hitting the ball a fair few times to
fielders, he missed a straight one and was bowled (2). 16-2
off 4 overs. Pikey joined Kim and managed to hold the majority
of the strike. The down side was that although he was hitting
the ball, the bowling continued to be very accurate and the
ball consistently found the fielders and often the pair took
the single which was offered to them at the end of the over.
Pikey did get a boundary, and Kim when on strike also hit
a few, though he did show the same patience as he did against
Sudbrook the day before. 51-2 off 10overs.
Pikey was out in the 12th over getting a thin edge behind
and walked (10). This brought JR to the crease, unfortunately
3 balls later he was bowled for 0. 54-4 off 11. Shandy was
next in, and he and Kim rotated the strike and tried to push
were possible. The run rate increased steadily and was helped
by a couple of 6’s from Kim. The fielding was sharp
in all areas of the ground. Shandy was finally run out after
Kim admired his shot until it was in the hands of the fielder
before shouting to take the run. (17). With just 3 balls remaining
Goff entered the fray and had a superb strike rate hitting
a 2,4 and 1. (7not out) and Kim hitting a solid 58 not out
only being dropped once early on. The total 113 – 5.
Gareth – 2 bowled
Easy – 2 bowled
Kim – 58 no
Pikey – 10 ct
JR – 0 bowled
Shandy – 17 ro
Goff – 7 no
Shagger opened the bowling with Dion from the other. Both
bowled well, against a batting pair that looked very confident
from the start. Shag had a very thin edge put down by Kim
behind the stumps, though not sure if it would have been given,
but there was definitely a nick. Dion had a lbw turned down
that was close (ish), but the batting pair weren’t giving
any chances. 47-0 off 8overs.
Gazza took over from Dan and Dave from Iain. Gazza bowled
a good line and length and was tight, he was rewarded with
getting his wicket bowled. 65-1-11overs. The Cazh were still
in with a shout and both Gaz and DT tried to coax the batsmen
into a false shot. Dave did manage it unfortunately Kim missed
the stumping, another went a foot or so over Goff’s
outstretched hands and Gaz attempted a stupendous catch which
would have been amazing had it stuck. 79-1 off 13overs.
Pablo took over from Dave and Goff from Gareth. Paul varied
pace, line and length, he successfully stopped the batsman
from advancing down the track by putting in a beamer which
passed over the batsman head by a foot or so. Goff didn’t
really have much to play with and was driven for a four to
finish the game on his last ball. 117-1-17overs.
Dan – 4-0-21-0
Iain – 4-0-26-0
Gareth – 4-0-27-1
Dave – 3-0-19-0
Paul – 1-0-16-0
Goff – 1-0-7-0
Unfortunately our solitary wicket was again not enough to
gain a bonus point.
However, in the field everyone tried very hard, give it their
all and didn’t which is all I can ask for, everyone
chased after balls which realistically were going to be boundaries
– but didn’t give up, everyone made saves and
threw in to the best of their ability in the face of batsmen
who were constantly pushing for runs, attempted run out were
taken and backing up was clearly visible – so WELL DONE
the Cazh for giving it their all.
