Match Report vs Chartered
Trust 24 July 2013 @ St Fagans (Skipper Cheese, report
Shag)
With the chance of rain during the heat wave that had gripped
the summer, the Cazh made their way to St Fagan’s to
play table topping Chartered Trust.
The toss was won and skipper Cheese decided to field first.
Shag and Shakey opened the bowling, Shag containing Trust
to mainly to singles apart from a boundary through the slips
in the first over. Shakey struggled to a) turn his arm over
and b) let go of the ball, so took himself off after 1 over,
to be replaced by Winkie. Winkie apart from a few loose ones
started to find his form once again, but neither him nor Shag
could get the first wicket, nor managed to stop Trust from
playing their shots.
Matt H replaced Shag and Kiwi Pete replaced Winkie. Kiwi
Pete gave the Cazh some hope by getting the first wicket,
however, the other opener Liddell was scoring at a much faster
rate and an imposing total looked likely and a lack of sharpness
in the field didn’t help. Fall of wicket at 114 off
12 overs. Kiwi Pete was unfortunate not to get another wicket
when the ball was hit high to Shakey on the bowling green
fence, not sure if Shakey’s sight is going the same
way as his hearing, as although he was directly beneath the
ball as it came down,he managed to miss it with his hands,
instead using the top of his head to stop the ball, which
was hit with a thud which took the speed out of the ball which
fell the right side of the ropes and the boundary was ‘saved’.
Cheese took over from Matt and Pete Obee One replaced Kiwi.
Cheese put his heart and soul into his bowling but was unable
to take a wicket, although, Obee1 took 2 in the last over
one lbw and the other stumped by Jesus. The innings ended
with Trust on 202-3 and Liddell getting his unbeaten century.

The forecasted rain had stayed away, though the clouds drew
darker as the evening progressed.
Steveo and Jesus opened the batting for the Cazh, and looked
confident to start with. Steveo hit a couple of 4’s
and Will looked in touch. However, it was Will who was out
first clouting a lofted cover drive only to be caught on the
boundary. 22-1. Steveo fell to the same fate shortly after
for 13. Britpop and Tesh put on a mini partnership before
Tesh was run out for 7 (when the report starts mentioning
partnerships of 10 you know we’re in trouble...) .
Obee1 hung around for a while before being dismissed for
8 (partnership of 14). Kiwi was next in and out for 3 (partnership
of 6). Cheese was next in and not helping his mood top edged
the first ball to the keeper (partnership 1).
Britpop finally succumbed in the same over finally failing
to edge a straight one for joint top score of 14. Winkie and
Shakey gave some level of respectability to the score by hanging
around and playing some good shots in the closing light, putting
on a massive partnership of 32 before Shakey’s eyes
failed him. Shag came in for the last 3 balls and snuck the
Cazh over the hundred mark.
Can’t say it was our finest performance, but Trust
were the all round better side.
