Match Report vs South
Glam 26 May 2009 @ St Fagans (Skipper Jam and Report
Smitts)
South Glam won the Toss and elected to bat first. It was
clear from the first ball that South Glam weren’t going
to hang around. With Allen and Sparks at the crease, Lewis
and P Stephens opened up for the Casuals and both took a bit
of punishment. After 8 overs the Casuals were wicket less
with the score on 61. A bowling change saw Hood and Dave “Super
Star” Thomas take over the responsibilities and Thomas
struck straight away removing Allen. Bowled for 40. Hood kept
the pressure on at the other end and next over dave had two
back in the club house. Some sharp work behind the stumps
by Smitty…sorry I mean Jonny F (Those two are easily
confused) saw Richardson stumped adding only a single from
the bat, and his replacement Lansdown didn’t last long
as Dave rattled his timbers. Warwick and Bannister finished
off the casuals overs with Bannister picking up the wicket
of the other opener Sparks. Bowled for 36, and an excellent
bit of fielding from Lewis coming in from the boundary resulted
in a direct hit run out.
South Glamorgan 127/5 off 20
D Lewis 4-0-31-0
P Stephens 4-0-29-0
Hood 4-0-13-0
D “SS” Thomas 4-0-19-3
I Warwick 2-0-19-0
R Bannister 2-0-11-1
Now The Casuals batting performances of late had been getting
a bit of stick, with most members of the club admitting that
we should be doing better. If you are of a nervous disposition
then don’t read on.
C Ryde and M Stephens opened up for the casuals but Easy
was walking early on, bowled. Scott Hand was next in, and
next out. He fell to an absolute jaffa of a delivery that
pitched on middle and then clipped the top of off. Kim came
and went adding just one to the total. M Stephens who had
been battling hard against some good bowling eventually mistimed
one and it popped up in the air for and easy catch. Warwick,
Bannister and Hood added 3 runs to the total between them.
The only two batsmen to make double figures were JF and D
Lewis. JF was eventually out caught for a difficult 16. Lewis
smashed a couple of boundaries’ before eventually being
bowled.
Cardiff Casuals 59 All Out off 17.2 overs.
